A polite bear asks every animal in the forest if they have seen his missing hat, and one answer sounds awfully suspicious. The deadpan humor and surprise ending make kids howl.
A tiny fish steals a hat and swims away, confident he'll get away with it, but the big fish is on his trail. A darkly funny Caldecott winner.
Two turtles find one hat in the desert, and both secretly want it. Quietly funny and surprisingly sweet, it shows how choosing friendship can matter more than getting what you want.
